Update April

The week is over now. The treatment plan provides that I will receive immunotherapy plus chemotherapy every two weeks. Both will start next Monday. After a week there will be one-time check of how well my body tolerates the „stuff“. The sessions will probably always last three to four hours, and after the session an infusion in the form of a bottle will be connected to the port, which will then remain on for 46 (!!) hours.

I’m already feeling a little queasy before Monday. I haven’t felt too well at home for the past two weeks. All is well until early afternoon. Then the fever comes on every day, which lasts until late in the evening. During the night I then regularly sweat through two to three T-shirts/duvets. So I wake up the next morning slightly weakened and recover from the night. Then it starts all over again. When I think about the fact that chemo can knock you out, I don’t know how much worse it will be from Monday. On the other hand, cancer therapy is the only thing that can help out of this downward spiral. Then there are the tablets. First something to prevent stomach bleeding, then antibiotics to reduce inflammation. From time to time a paracetamol to lower the fever, then again various vitamin tablets. The „port arm“ still hurts a little and they want to pierce my skin tomorrow?!?

Since I’ve also had problems with eating for several weeks, it’s not easy for me to keep the weight. As a result the entire food intake takes much longer and is more work than pleasure. Well, it is what it is, fingers crossed for me that things will slowly start to improve again in the next few weeks.
